Every year, volunteers and members of Redwood Empire Trout Unlimited join up with local partners to help clean up local watersheds. Here are a few of our most recent events.

Past Cleanups

Petaluma River Cleanup

RETU led a volunteer cleanup team on Adobe Creek. Together we hauled out several large bags of trash.

RETU joins with the Friends of the Petaluma River to work on river cleanup to help restore this beautiful watershed.

Locals come out in force! The event attracts hundreds of volunteers including from local Trout Unlimited chapters. The cleanup targets over a dozen locations along the River and its tributaries to help improve water quality and protect habitat. The hard working team at the Friends of the Petaluma River also organizes a BBQ with live music, educational activities and a raffle for volunteers.

Russian River Cleanup

RETU partners with the Clean River Alliance and the Russian River Wild Steelhead Society for river cleanup days. Cleanups include a float down hard-to-reach sections of the river, where volunteers pull out trash and haul them downstream on inflatable kayaks. In one float, 27 volunteers pulled out 35 tires - a total of 2,080 pounds of trash in 4 hours! Afterwards we relaxed with an awesome barbecue lunch and refreshments. While these days are about giving back to the watersheds we love, they are also a fun day out on the water.

We also sponsor and participate in the annual Russian River Cleanup held in September. For more info: http://russianrivercleanup.org
